sarah alvarez is someone with a habit of looking and a knack for seeing. They’ve worked in and around the music and video game industries for the last five years, with a consistent focus on indie labels, DIY, and smaller creatives.

salvarez (b. 1998, New Jersey, US) holds an MFA from the University of Missouri and a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design. They work mainly with digital and physical assemblage, and concern themself with DIY . to map the relationships between dispersion, recursion, and diaspora in a post-Internet world.

Layout design for the physical re-issue of the band’s two LP’s on vinyl, CD, and cassette. Included design of accompanying merch.
My work here involved digital artwork restoration, creative direction, and typesetting.


We were ever-so interested in capturing the magic trapped at the intersection of budding Internet aesthetics, riot grrrl zine cultures, and the critical eye of the post-Dischord Records D.C. punk scene. My “illustrating” and “photobashing” for this project consisted mostly of resurrecting long-dead fancy font generators from the Internet Archive, scouring One Terobyte of Kilobyte Age and Tumblr for .gifs, and lazily cutting up photographs on Photoshop.

I totally ripped off risograph and laser copier zine aesthetics here - shout to out to all my risographers and ziners.
